Tancoigné during les Guerres de Vendée :

During the French Revolution, the Republican communities took down the bells of the churches because the government wanted to get hold of the precious metal. To avoid this fate, the inhabitants took down the two bells one night and buried them next to the village. Once the French Revolution had come to an end, the bells were dug up and put back in their place in 1808.

To discover :
* Saint Pierre Church

 Tancoigné - L'église Saint Pierre

A gate overlooked by a bell tower characterizes the church of Tancoigné, built in 1886. However, this church, of neogothic style, remained unfinished due to a lack of means.

Thus, the capitals and the keystones are not sculpted.

* The milestone of Trois Evêchés (Bishoprics)

This milestone shows the limit between the bishoprics of Angers, of Maillezais and of Poitiers.

Hidden curiousity:  The skeleton of a prehistoric man was discovered 31 December 1949, in the rock quarry at the spot of "Les Gâts". It is the skeleton of a Neolithic man that dates back to 3000 B.C. Today, this skeleton is kept at the Université Catholique d’Angers
